The Telecommunications Office has dismissed appeals of Orange Slovensko and Slovak Telekom against the fees for extension of their licenses. BRATISLAVA, September 26, (WEBNOVINY) -- The Telecommunications Office of the Slovak Republic has turned down at the first instance the appeal of telecommunications operators Orange Slovensko and Slovak Telekom (T-Mobile) against the fees they were asked to pay for extension of assigned licenses for ten years totaling EUR 88 million. Spokesman for the authority Roman Vavro said on Monday that the Chairman of the Telecommunications Office and the second instance authority will now decide on the complaint of both companies. The deadline for the ruling is thirty days with a possible further extension. The Telecommunications Office chairman’s ruling is final and takes effect on the day of its delivery to complainants, in this case mobile operators, in accordance with law.

The Telecommunications Office decided on extension of licenses for the use of frequencies of mobile operators Orange Slovensko and Slovak Telekom (T-Mobile) as well as on the volume of the lump sum settlement at the beginning of August of this year. The regulator prolonged the licenses by ten years, based on mobile operators’ applications. Based on the decision of the market watchdog, Slovak Telekom is to pay EUR 47.767 million for the renewed license and Orange Slovensko EUR 40.687 million.
