BRATISLAVA, July 22, (WEBNOVINY) — The Plenipotentiary Office for Non-governmental Organizations, the establishment of which was initiated by Prime Minister Iveta Radicova, was the main topic of Thursday’s talks between the Prime Minister and twenty-five non-profit organizations. However, they did not talk about specific nominations. “The job description of the plenipotentiary was discussed. No proposals were submitted or specific name mentioned,“ Grigorij Meseznikov from the Institute for Public Affairs stated. As the Chairman of the Forum Minority Research Institute Laszlo Ollos added, concrete proposals were made of people who will work on defining the status of the plenipotentiary. Any NGO interested can work on the document.

According to the non-governmental organizations, the plenipotentiary should prepare related draft bills. His tasks should include coordination, communication, and criticism. As Mr. Ollos added, specific legislation that should be changed was discussed as well, but he did not want to disclose specifics. „The task of the plenipotentiary is to use the arising favorable situation between the public administration and civil society,“ Mr. Meseznikov said, adding that this was missing in previous years. At present, it is possible to create a system of a sustainable third sector, he added.

Ms. Radicova was busy after the meeting and did not speak to journalists about its contents.
