Slovakia's and Slovenia's Presidents Meet in Bratislava

BRATISLAVA, April 12, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovakia’s President Ivan Gasparovic and his Slovenian counterpart Danilo Turk confirmed excellent relations between Slovakia and Slovenia at their meeting in Bratislava on Thursday. At a joint press conference, the presidents stressed the need to increase investments. Along with good cooperation in trade, education, research and culture, President Gasparovic said that mutual investments need a boost. “We concluded that we should seek more initiative in particular in investment policy, both mutual as well as to third countries,” the Slovak president stated. The head of state from Slovenia is accompanied during his visit here by a delegation of thirty Slovenian business leaders. They discussed investment development at an Economic Forum in Bratislava on Thursday, which also the two presidents attended.

President Turk stated at the press conference that Slovakia and Slovenia are very close to each other in resolving problems on the national as well as international level. The support initiatives aiming at a strong European Union and the euro. According to President Turk, in addition to supporting fiscal stability, the EU should also support economic growth.

Slovenia’s President Danilo Turk and his spouse Barbara Miklic Turk arrived to Slovakia at the invitation of President Gasparovic for a two-day visit. The president is to meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico and Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paska, too. On Friday, the presidents are to attend the Globsec 2012 global security forum in Bratislava. Croatia’s President Ivo Yosipovic is to attend Globsec, too.
