BRATISLAVA, June 20, (WEBNOVINY) — The Cabinet has definitively halted the initiated privatization process involving some companies with state capital participation. The previous government of Iveta Radicova had started the privatization process. “Based on the approved government manifesto we propose to discontinue the ongoing privatization process and halt steps leading to the transfer of equity stakes of the government privatization agency the National Property Fund in business activities of the selected companies,” stated the ministry in its proposal that the Cabinet approved on Wednesday.

The former government had planned to privatize six major heating companies in Bratislava, Trnava, Zilina, Martin, Zvolen and Kosice, and to sell minority stakes in local bus transport operators. Also shares of Slovak Telekom, Bratislava Stock Exchange, and shares in DMD Group, Sliac and Bardejov spas, and the company Policlinic Tehelna were earmarked for sale.
