BRATISLAVA, January 2, (WEBNOVINY)- SMER-SD leader and ex-prime minister Robert Fico says that in Slovakia, loyalty of its ethnic Hungarians towards the Slovak Republic was a little bit underestimated. The decision of voters to prefer MOST-HID over the SMK party can be interpreted as a display of certain loyalty of Slovak Hungarians towards the state, said Fico in a interview for SITA news wire. According to him, maybe all undervalued the situation and thought that when the SMK waves a flag on the barricade then all Slovak Hungarians will rush to them, pick the Hungarian citizenship and try to quit this country spiritually, mentally. Fico said that the fact that it did not happen is a very pleasant surprise for him. Therefore Jozsef Berenyi who plans to ask for the Hungarian citizenship instantly in the first week of this year cannot be taken as a unit of truth. Fico does not think that the Hungarian dual citizenship law, which has come into effect on January 1 will be used en masse but “politicians will abuse it to flex muscles and show the relationship towards Hungary“, he warned.

From this point of view the December visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was absolutely symptomatic, says Fico. He criticized that the Hungarian Prime Minister first dined at the SMK headquarters and only then he met with the Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova. He said that it was such act of humiliation towards Iveta Radicova that if he had been in her place he would not have met Orban. Fico underscored that Orban’s partner in Slovakia is first of all the prime minister. The SMK with support of 3-4 percent of Slovakia’s electorate cannot be a political partner of Viktor Orban in Slovakia, stated the ex-prime minister.
