Miroslav Lajcak to Become New Foreign Affairs Minister

BRATISLAVA, March 22, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovak diplomat Miroslav Lajcak will be the new minister of foreign affairs of the Slovak Republic. Lajcak personally confirmed this information on Thursday. The list of names of members of the second Cabinet of Robert Fico (SMER-SD) is to be disclosed on Monday. The winner of elections, SMER-SD, has already announced that Marek Madaric would serve as the Culture Minister, Robert Kalinak would lead the Interior Ministry and Peter Kazimir would be in charge of the Finance Ministry.

The future head of Slovak diplomacy now serves at the European External Action Service as Managing Director for Russia, Eastern Neighbourhood and Western Balkans. Lajcak already led the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry during the first government of Robert Fico from January 2009 to July 2010 as a replacement of Jan Kubis. He also served as EU High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2007-2009.
