BRATISLAVA, December 2, (WEBNOVINY) — Three current Cabinet ministers, Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda, Finance Minister Ivan Miklos and Justice Minister Lucia Zitnanska will lead the SDKU-DS in the election campaign for the March parliamentary elections. On Friday, party and also election leader Mikulas Dzurinda presented the first fifty-seven names on the SDKU-DS election ballot. He said that the list of candidates features some very experienced politicians, followed by very strong candidates.
Number 4 on the list will be chairman of the party’s deputy caucus Jozef Mikus, followed by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Milan Hort, Chairman of the Parliamentary Financial Committee Ivan Stefanec, head of the Parliamentary Defense and Security Committee Martin Fedor and Education Minister Eugen Jurzyca. Head of Bratislava County Pavol Freso should run from the ninth place. Number 10 on the ballot is state secretary at the Education Ministry Jaroslav Ivanco.
The party’s presidium took four criteria into consideration when making the list. First was success and collected preferential votes in the last parliamentary elections, expert skills so that the deputy caucus is able to cover a broad spectrum of topics, regional representation, and contributions to the party.
The list does not feature any independent personalities. Dzurinda commented that the party is an “incubator of quality people” and for the first time in eleven years of its existence, it does not need to nominate people from the outside.
Based on deadlines defined in the law on parliamentary elections, parties must register their election lists at the Interior Ministry by December 11.
