SMER Leader Robert Fico Re-Elected with 100-Percen

RUZOMBEROK, November 13, (WEBNOVINY)- As generally expected, Robert Fico remains the chairman of the strongest opposition party SMER-SD for the next four-year period. All 147 candidates of the Saturday’s SMER-SD congress in Ruzomberok supported his re-election. After the vote, Fico thanked the delegates for the trust they gave him. He said that he manages the party in the way to eliminate any internal problems. He stated he would do his best to support public activity of the party leadership. “We are prepared to work hard on returning the party into the government as quick as possible,” he added.

The delegates of the congress also elected four deputy chairpersons. They voted on candidates proposed by the party chairmanship. Robert Kalinak harvested 190 votes, Pavol Paska 184, Dusan Caplovic 186, Vladimir Manka 184, Peter Kazimir 184 and Marek Madaric 188 votes. Neither Fico nor candidates for deputy chairman posts had contestants in the election.
