BRATISLAVA, May 29, (WEBNOVINY) – Deputy Chairman of the opposition Slovak National Party and the chief of the party deputy club Rafael Rafaj is not concerned at all that the club would cease to exist after the departure of Anna Belousovova and Rudolf Pucik. “It has never happened that a party that made it to the parliament in the elections would lose its club during the electoral term,” Rafaj announced on air of the Slovak Television in the “O Pat Minut Dvanast” political program. Referring to a legal analysis, the SNS MP explained that the club cannot cease to exist just because one or two members leave it and the quorum drops below eight. The caucus was established at the beginning of the electoral term based on the election outcome and the decision of the citizens that sent the given party to the parliament.
OKS deputy Ondrej Dostal, whose party is clustered in the MOST-HID club, agrees that the SNS deputy caucus should not cease to exist. He believes it would be better to precisely define the number of deputies that would lead to the demise of a deputy club.
Rafaj does not think that the situation from the past could repeat, when SNS split and both Jan Slota and Anna Belousovova chose a different path. As a result, none of the parties made it into the parliament in the 2002 elections. The lawmaker insists that the current situation is different.
