SNS Has Program to Protect Slovakia from Impacts of Crisis

BRATISLAVA, August 13, (WEBNOVINY)-.The opposition parliamentary party SNS does not agree with abusing solidarity within the European Union for even more rapid deterioration of the country’s economic situation and threatening the joint currency meaning putting at also savings of inhabitants, reads a statement from the Saturday meeting of the party leadership. The SNS does not want that Slovaks continue to pay for incapability of the local government and irresponsible governments of other states, adds the statement.

The SNS suggests that to protect people, the currency, assets and the state it is necessary to protect deposits, keep employment and prepare a crisis alternative variant of the return of the crown. It also calls for a 9-percent VAT rate on foodstuffs and active support to local production, mainly Slovak farming products.

SNS Deputy Chairman Rafael Rafaj informed SITA that the chairmanship had on its table a program of protecting Slovakia from negative impacts of the general global crisis, an analysis of possible impacts of the crisis and irresponsibility in the European monetary union and the developments on the Slovak political scene placing emphasis on the financial and monetary safety of Slovak citizens and their deposits and economic, energy ad food self-sufficiency of the Slovak Republic as well.

At a brief remembrance ceremony on the occasion of the death anniversary of Andrej Hlinka [Slovakia’s Christian political leader before WWII — editor’s note] the SNS leaders appealed on political, church and cultural elite and authorities to contribute to national unity and cohesion and amalgamate the society as they expect the crisis to have most devastating impacts on human, social and national cohesion.
