The economy ministry sees priority of the amendment in ensuring cost efficiency with the minimum impact on energy prices for end consumers.

The large amendment to the Act on support for renewable energy sources and high- efficiency cogeneration was passed by the MPs. “The amendment will bring a new structure of the support for the renewables. The state will no longer automatically pay lump sums for a renewable energy source,“ Economy Minister Peter Ziga said. According to the economy ministry, the priority of the amendment is to ensure cost efficiency with the minimum impact on energy prices for end consumers. The ministry presented the amendment in mid-May 2018. Under the amendment, electricity generated from new renewable energy sources and cogeneration will only be supported via auctions.
