Regulator may pay fine for flawed public procurement

The Public Procurement Office has initiated legal proceedings in connection with three orders when the Regulatory Office for Network Industries attempted to avoid the procedure for above threshold contracts.

Yet another state authority wants to scrutinize the Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO). After the chairman of the Supreme Audit Court (NKU) Karol Mitrik turned to criminal authorities following the findings of its inspectors at the regulator, the Public Procurement Office (UVO) has initiated three administrative proceedings against the regulator. “We have initiated proceedings in connection with three orders when the regulator divided the subject in order to avoid the procedure for above threshold contracts. The Public Procurement Office followed up the findings f the Supreme Audit Court,“ a spokeswoman for UVO Jana Zvoncekova informed the news agency SITA. The Public Procurement Office will look into the order for an expert evaluation when reviewing the property of the regulated entities, the order for expert and professional activity and the order for the preparation of documents and consulting services for providing expert opinions.
