The vice-president of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic, responsible for the Energy Union, believes that solutions suitable to Bratislava residents, Slovak government and the EU will be found.

The gas pipeline between Bratislava and Austrian Schwechat remains one of EU’s priority projects. „We closely watch the ongoing debate. I must confirm that this gas pipeline project is among EU’s priorities. It fits into the diversification and interconnection of gas pipeline systems,“ the vice-president of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic, responsible for the Energy Union, said at the discussion forum held on Friday. The commissioner is familiar with the problems the project faces, particularly its routing via the Slovak capital city. „I am sure that it will be necessary for Bratislava, the Slovak government and the EU to respect residents’ requirements as well as environment protection. A discussion is ongoing and I hope that right solutions will be found,“ said Sefcovic.
