After being taken over by the state, the hydropower plant Gabcikovo had to undergo a change and introduce new control systems. This entire transition under the new systems was secured by the Slovak dispatch centre Slovensky elektroenergeticku dispecing (SED) of the Slovak transmission system operator Slovenska elektrizacna prenosova sustava (SEPS).

Last week, the ruling cabinet announced a full takeover of the the operation of the hydropower plant Gabcikovo by the state-owned company Vodohospodarska Vystavba. Besides usual changes, the power plant had to transition under the new control systems, since the original control systems operated by Slovenske Elektrarne had to be disconnected and new systems connected and tested. The entire transition under new systems was secured by the Slovak dispatch centre Slovensky elektroenergeticku dispecing (SED) of the Slovak transmission system operator Slovenska elektrizacna prenosova sustava (SEPS).

During the change of the operator of the hydropower plant Gabcikovo, dispatchers „did not see“ how the electricity sources in Gabcikovo, one of the largest one in Slovakia, work as their monitoring had been interrupted. Executive director of SED Frantisek Pecho said that if anything happened at that time, dispatchers would have to solve the situation only using the information received on the phone. The transition was eventually carried out smoothly without any problems.
