BRATISLAVA, April 16, (WEBNOVINY) — Jozsef Berenyi has retained the top post at the non-parliamentary Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK). At the SMK Congress in Velky Meder, 272 delegates voted for him and 21 were against. Berenyi was the only candidate for the post as his predecessor Pal Csaky decided to not run for the positions of party chairman, his deputy and the head of the Republican Board although some local organizations had nominated him. Csaky was elected a member of the party’s leadership. In a secret ballot, he was supported by 172 delegates and returns to the SMK leadership after nine months.

Gyula Bardos will further serve as the chair of the SMK Republican Board. He was supported by 286 delegates and eleven voted against him.

The Congress delegates elected following deputy chairpersons: Peter Ory, Ivan Farkas, Laszlo Szigeti, Gabriella Nemeth and Laszlo Miklos. In addition to Csaky, Ferenc Auxt, Peter Csusz, Adriana Papp and Gabor Mihok will serve in the leadership.
