MICHALOVCE, September 24, (WEBNOVINY) – The KDH Council held on Saturday in Michalovce, eastern Slovakia, devoted attention in particular to internal political affairs, the eurozone bailout fund and explaining why it is important to support it. Lucia Mihokova from the communication department reported that Chairman of the KDH deputy caucus Pavol Hrusovsky stated that the joker is in the hands of the SDKU-DS party, which should decide whether to connect the vote on the bailout fund with a confidence motion in the government. Chairman of the Christian Democrats Jan Figel stated that the party is stable, uniform and stands behind the government led by Iveta Radicova. KDH will not initiate connecting the two votes.

Deputy leader of the KDH party Daniel Lipsic noted that when the party offered a compromise solution in the bailout issue, that a separate vote on who would get a loan from the bailout fund would be held, Finance Minister Ivan Miklos (SDKU-DS) rejected it. “Now, such proposal is on the table,” Lipsic said. MP Martin Fronc said that if the vote on support for the bailout fund is unsuccessful and the government collapses, new elections should be held. Other members of the KDH Council expressed support for the bailout fund and for the government in a discussion that lasted about three hours.

Lucia Mihokova further reported that KDH leader Jan Figel awarded a medal of the KDH Chairman on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of founding the party to Cuban dissident Alfredo Batista for his contribution to the fight against totalitarian regime in Cuba. .
