BRATISLAVA, August 29, (WEBNOVINY) – Prime Minister Iveta Radicova expects SNS deputy Vincent Lukac to inform the law enforcement authorities about his ties and relationship with the Mafia about which he told the media. She repeated Sunday that Lukac’s statements about his friendship with the Mafia are unacceptable. The prime minister regrets that the car of the deputy was burnt down and added that the incident must be probed into, but the destroyed car and Lukac’s sympathetic statements about the Mafia are two different matters. Radicova cannot influence the deputy to give up his mandate but she felt obliged to present her standpoint to his words.

A stance provided by Lukac to SITA news agency on Sunday claims that journalists slanted some of his publicly-made comments. The SNS deputy defends himself by saying that politicians and journalists that demurred at his words could have not been as blind as not to understand that his words about his relationship with “the Mafia” were ironic. Lukac was astonished that the statements he made for a tabloid magazine as a joke have been interpreted and analyzed as his real contacts to a group of people referred to as the Mafia or even as his admiration for this group. The former hockey player sharply rejected this in his stance.

Lukac told SITA that he does not plan to give up his mandate but he is going to ask the National Security Office (NBU) for a screening to dispel doubts cast on his moral integrity.
