BRATISLAVA, December 4, (WEBNOVINY) – Peter Zajac will continue to head the Civic Conservative Party (OKS), which made it to the Parliament on the candidate list of the MOST-HID party and occupies four seats there. On Saturday, December 4, the party held a Republican Congress, at which it elected its chairman and five deputy chairmen. No changes on the top positions within OKS were made. Zuzana Dzivjakova, Frantisek Sebej, Peter Osusky, Ondrej Dostal and Tibor Tkac were re-elected as deputy chairmen. Rudolf Zajac will head the Program Council. The only new face in the OKS is Jan Hacaj, who has been appointed to the post of secretary general.

On Saturday, the OKS again pledged to support the government in its present composition and to not contribute to its collapse. The party will respect the coalition’s program statement.

With regard to the current tensions inside the ruling coalition, OKS leader Peter Zajac stated that if a new prosecutor general is not elected, and Prime Minister Iveta Radicova resigns from her post, the ruling coalition will lose the support of four deputies of the OKS, who are now members of the MOST-HID deputy faction. Zajac further told a news conference following the Republican council that in such case, the party would require new negotiations about forming a government. “What we pledged to, which is to support this ruling coalition, would at that moment automatically lose validity,“ said Zajac and added that the OKS supports the coalition in its current compositions, headed by Iveta Radicova.

The OKS was established in late 2008 by former prominent members of the Democratic Party.
