BRATISLAVA, November 22, (WEBNOVINY) – The Parliament will hold a secret ballot to elect Slovakia’s prosecutor general for the next seven-year period on December 2, at 11.30 a.m. Heads of deputy factions decided on the date on Monday. The term in office of the incumbent Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka terminates in February 2011. Lawmakers will also elect candidates for judges of disciplinary courts, KDH deputy Pavol Abrhan confirmed for SITA newswire.

The Coalition parties have not yet picked a joint candidate for the new prosecutor general. The Coalition Council is sitting over the issue since the morning, however after two hours when no candidate has been selected, talks were interrupted until 4 p.m. when coalition leaders gather again. Opposition deputy Mojmir Mamojka (SMER-SD) has proposed the incumbent Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka. The Parliament voted on the new prosecutor at its November session twice, but did not pick any. Therefore, a new vote will be held in December. Deputies have until 6 p.m. Monday to present their proposals.

The parliamentary agenda in December also includes the draft state budget for 2011, reduction of the lawmakers’ wages, an amendment to the law on the state language, and a revision to the law on state citizenship. The Session begins next Tuesday, November 30.
