BRATISLAVA, April 13, (SITA) — Minister of Environment Jozsef Nagy and Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic examined the situation on the Danube River near Samorin after the morning collision of two a Maltese flagged cruise ship and a German cargo vessel at the spot of the accident.

An older woman from the cruise ship involved in the crash had to be evacuated ashore because she was unwell. She was handed over to medical emergency service, Eva Zbudilova of the state-run shipping administrator Statna Plavebna Sprava informed SITA news agency. She further informed that evacuation of other passengers was not required as the cruise ship remained afloat. The cruise carried 160 passengers.

The cargo vessel involved in the accident carried the German flag. It fell apart and got stuck near the riverbank. No injuries have been reported so far. Zbudilova confirmed that the shipping lane is free but Statna Plavebna Sprava issued a warning for captains to increase attention along the section. Initial information referred to the crash of two cargo ships.
