BRATISLAVA, January 29, (WEBNOVINY) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic issued a statement on Saturday concerning the situation in Egypt. It states that it observes what is happening with concern. It condemns all acts of violence and warns that any further use of force would only lead to more casualties. „At the same time, we believe that Egyptian authorities will respect fundamental human rights and civil liberties,“ said the press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A crisis team at the ministry met on Saturday under the leadership of State Secretary Milan Jezovica to assess the security situation in Egypt with regard to personnel of the Slovak Embassy in Cairo and their families. The ministry warns citizens of Slovakia to reconsider their travel plans to Egypt. In the event they are now in Egypt, the department recommends that they avoid places where demonstrations are held and to increase their vigilance.
