BRATISLAVA, March 10, (WEBNOVINY) – The opposition SNS has filed a motion with the Prosecutor General Office to examine the statements of Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic and the Ministry’s State Secretary Maros Zilinka they made at a news conference on Wednesday. They told reporters that the police have turned to the prosecution to ask parliament to vote on waiving the deputy immunity of the SNS MP Igor Stefanov. Ex-construction minister Stefanov and his predecessor Marian Januska are among the accused in the case of the so-called bulletin-board tender. Charges against them and three more persons were brought this Tuesday.
“I don’t have a problem when some act is being examined. I mind when the Minister interferes in the investigation and swaps with the media in order to increase his political preferences,” said the SNS Deputy Chairman Andrej Danko on Thursday. The motion is based on statements of both Lipsic and Zilinka, which, according to Danko, clearly imply that the two must have seen the case’s file. According to the Penal Order, file inspection is a special regime. “I’m convinced, that Mr. Lipsic exceeded the powers he has as a public official,” said Danko. He also does not agree with Lipsic’s statements about the judicial consequences of the case. According to Danko, the Minister is not entitled to discuss the guilt in the state when the entire case is only being investigated.
In the so-called notice-board tender worth SKK 3.6 billion in 2007 announced by the Construction Ministry led by Marian Janusek (SNS), the ex-construction minister Stefanov allegedly arranged things to facilitate victory of SNS-friendly consortium of the companies Avocat and Zamedia.
