BRATISLAVA, March 13, (WEBNOVINY)- MP Igor Stefanov (SNS) says that statements of Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic and his State Secretary Maros Zilinka from March 9 are a blatant and abusive attack on him. Lipsic informed at his news conference that the investigator has turned to the prosecutor to ask the parliament to strip Stefanov of his immunity. According to the minister, the investigator wants to charge Stefanov in the case of the so-called notice-board tender, in which already four people have been charged. Stefanov could not be accused because he enjoys deputy immunity.

Stefanov said that he had been taken aback when he had learned about suspicions against him from the media. He asked whether he lives in the rule-of-law state when something like that could happen. He wondered that he had learned about suspicions against him directly from the minister who according to Stefanov should not only oversee observation of laws in Slovakia but also abide by them. Stefanov insists that the case was artificially fabricated and have been nourished for several years. „It is in my interest that the matter is resolved as soon as possible so that my name and the persons allegedly charged by the interior minister were clarified,“ he said.

Also the SNS leadership dealt with Lipsic’ statements. It labeled them an attack on the party and some of its representatives and a blatant violation of the rule of law and the constitution. In its statement the leadership writes that it stands by Stefanov who said that he does not have any problem with waiving his immunity in order to get rid of the untrue suspicions, which have deeply infringed on is good name, honor and the family life.

In the so-called notice-board tender worth SKK 3.6 billion in 2007 announced by the Construction Ministry led by Marian Janusek (SNS), the ex-construction minister Stefanov allegedly arranged things to facilitate victory of SNS-friendly consortium of the companies Avocat and Zamedia.
