BRATISLAVA, October 19, (WEBNOVINY) — The story of a burnt down luxurious SUV driven by the Slovak National Party SNS MP Vincent Lukac is not over. Parliamentary Mandate and Immunity Committee is planning to ask the MP, whose rented Mercedes burnt down this summer, allegedly together with his paycheck and papers, to present further documents on paying his car’s rent costs. Lukac presented his contract and documents on paying a rent for one month between July 15 and August 15 to the Committee. The vehicle was rented from Emil Sisak, a friend of the MP. The Mercedes burned down at the end of August, yet the Committee misses evidence about the rent paid for the time after August 15 until the vehicle burned down. “I can see a ten-day discrepancy. I don’t know whether the MP paid for a whole month, for fifteen days, I do not know – but what I’d like to know is whether he settled the matter, whether the payment was in line with the contract,” said MP Renata Zmajkovicova (SMER-SD). Zmajkovicova proposed that Lukac delivers to the committee the missing receipt. Earlier in September she suggested that the law prohibiting MPs from receiving gifts or accepting any other advantages might have been violated in this case.
Jarmila Takacova of the SDKU-DS feels conspicuous about the contract between Mr. Lukac and Mr. Sisak, as the payment was allegedly made in cash although Sisak resides in Switzerland. As she pointed out, mere traveling to Switzerland would cost the MP more than the due rent was. “They expected the car to burn down,” suggests another SDKU-DS MP Stefan Kuzma. He thinks this is indicated by an article in the rental contract, according to which the contract terminates at the moment the vehicle is destroyed.
Mercedes 320 CDI driven by Lukac burned down in the night from Sunday to Monday, August 23, in Kosice where Lukac lives. A Bratislava-based company, Radovan Valent – VAN owned the approximately one hundred thousand euros worth vehicle. The MP had the car rented and was planning to lease-purchase it. He claimed that his entire parliamentary paycheck together with his personal papers were in the car when it burned down. Shortly after the incident, Lukac caused an upheaval by claiming that he respects the Mafia and its members do respect him, concluding that he does have any conflicts with any of them. He later apologized for these words.
