BRATISLAVA, November 26, (WEBNOVINY) – On Saturday, MOST-HID leader Bela Bugar presented the list of candidates for early parliamentary elections on March 10, 2012. The list of the party which represents interests of ethnic Hungarians, while working together with Slovaks, features 32 women, as well as Romas, Ruthenians, a Czech woman and an Afghan man. Bela Bugar, Zsolt Simon (Agriculture Minister) and Laszlo Solymos (head of the party’s deputy caucus) will lead the party in the election campaign. Three ethnic Slovaks, Rudolf Chmel (Deputy Prime Minister), Ivan Svejna (deputy leader of the party) and Andrej Hrnciar (Mayor of Martin) will be among the first ten candidates. Rudolf Chmel will be number four, Gabor Gal number five, next will be Tibor Bastrnak, Ivan Svejna, Elemer Jakab and Peter Boros. Andrej Hrnciar will be on the tenth place. Frantisek Sebej, who left the OKS party, will feature on the thirteenth position, followed by Jozsef Nagy (Environment Minister).

Bugar explained that several factors were taken into consideration when making the candidate list, such as the number of collected votes in past elections, work results, representation of the party, and contribution to the party image. Bugar said they did not select candidates based on their ethnic origin or gender.

The party’s Republican Committee approved the list of candidates on Saturday. Of the 36 members present, 34 voted for approving the slate. The Republican Committee has convened a congress for December 17, where the election program will be discussed. MOST-HID will launch election campaign after January 7.
