BRATISLAVA, February 2, (WEBNOVINY) – Prime Minister Iveta Radicova will most likely not listen to demands of the street and will not dismiss any of her ministers. “In a few weeks the citizens can choose freely, so it is up to them to decide responsibly,” Radicova responded to questions of journalists who inquired whether she plans to recall her party boss Mikulas Dzurinda from the office of the Foreign Minister due to suspicions aroused by the Gorilla file.

Radicova also added that she can not appoint new ministers as her Cabinet does not have confidence of Parliament and, what is more its powers have been considerably curtailed. The early election is scheduled for March 10.

On Tuesday, the organizers of Gorilla protests urged Radicova to dismiss Foreign Minister Mikulas Dzurinda, Finance Minister Ivan Miklos, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Rights Rudolf Chmel, Economy Minister Juraj Miskov and Health Minister Ivan Uhliarik. Lucia Gallova, one of organizers of demonstrations against politicians suspected of corruption based on the alleged intelligence service file Gorilla said that Speaker of Parliament Pavol Hrusovsky, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Bela Bugar and SMER-SD head and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Robert Fico should go, too.

Prime Minister Radicova said she can understand the people in the streets. “It is hard to bring peace and trust when an ordinary citizen is immediately prosecuted for every misdemeanor which is not always the case regarding those major,” said Radicova. She added that it is important that the cases are not only investigated, but also that the transgressors are punished for the sake of the feeling of justice. “Unless we are really consistent and just in this issue, I can understand that the citizens are grumbling,” the prime minister added. She also underlined that it is the same in politics as in other professions; there are honest and dishonest people. “It really is not a pleasant experience to be lumped together,” she enclosed.
