Slovak ministry: Nord Stream 2 is not in line with EU goals

Russian company Gazprom has already obtained permissions from Germany and Finland for the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

The Slovak economy ministry still considers the Russian gas pipeline project Nord Stream 2 to be in conflict with the EU goals and the planned Energy Union. “All projects should be in accordance with the goals of the European energy policy towards increased energy security, fill diversification of sources and transport routes and in accordance with EU legislative. Several EU countries, including Slovakia pointed at the fact that Nord Stream project is not in line with EU goals that are the are the pillars of the Energy Union,“ Maros Stano, a spokesman for economy ministry informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. Germany and Finland have already agreed with the conditions for the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The Russians, however, still need permissions from countries like Denmark and Sweden.
